Getting There

Flights to Athens or Thessaloniki:

Flights to Skyros:

  • Aegean Airlines & SkyExpress have flights to the island, either from Athens or Thessaloniki

  • There is usually only one flight per day (sometimes two) so make sure you book well in advance

  • Flights schedules should be released late 2024/early 2025

  • Please try to stagger which flight you get with other guests; each plane can only hold about 30 people, so if everyone is trying to arrive on the same day there will be issues!

Ferry + Coach:

  • If flights are full, or if you fancy a bit more of an adventure, you can get a coach (or hire a car) from Athens to the port of Kymi and then a short ferry to the island. Coach is roughly 1.45 - 2hrs long, then ferry 1.45 hrs.

  • The coach from Athens to Kymi goes from the Liosion Bus Station in central Athens. You can buy a coach + ferry combo ticket from here

  • As it will be early in the season it should be fine to buy combo tickets on the day from the bus station

  • More information can be found here, but please do let us know if you have any questions

  • Skyros ferry website here

  • Coach company website here (not the most helpful site but can email/phone them for more info)

Transport on the island:

  • Buses meet each plane & ferry arrival, costs approx. €8

  • You can also pre-book a taxi/transfer, phone numbers are here

  • There are plenty of car/bike rental places (some will meet you at airport with car), such as this and this, but please do some research as well

  • Some hotels may arrange pick ups too

Please note: if you want to have a drinky or two at the wedding, make sure your accomodation is in stumbling distance from Kavoures beach bar or pre-book a taxi. We will be arranging transport for the elders only.

Where to Stay

There is lots of accommodation to suit all budgets. Bookings for 2025 won't be open until Autumn 2024 so don't panic if it looks like there's nothing available (Greeks don't plan that far ahead lol). Please do some research on Booking.com, AirBnB etc but below are a few links to start you off. It's also a good idea to check the actual hotel websites as well.

Taverna Margeti

Tiny authentic restaurant in Chora. Get the lamb chops, lemon goat, aubergine thingy & bean salad. Oh, and the fresh fish. DELICIOUS. Look out for the above image on the main path through town. About halfway up main path in town, under a big Mulberry tree.

barba.jpg

Barba Giannis kai Maritsa

An absolute Skyros institution. Tasha's Mum & her mates used to party here in their 20's. Old school vibes, really tasty meze (get the meatballs), ancient juke box, grumpy looking old Greek men drinking their 9am ouzo. On the main path in town.

O Stefanos

Gorgeous location right on the main beach (Magazia). Great for post beach feeding & an icy beer.

Rodon Cafe

Cool little cocktail bar in town with a beautiful roof terrace for stargazing & views of the castle above.

Korphari

Perfectly laid back cafe/bar on the main beach. Watch the sunset with an ice cold beer after a hard days sun basking. Very close to 'O Stefanos' restaurant.

Kavos Bar

Stunning bar that creeps down the cliff-side opposite the port (Linaria). Gorgeous views, and a cute jumping off point at the bottom for swims. Can get the bus there or drive/taxi.

Things to see & do

The main town and surrounding beaches are lovely to explore; potter around, eat, drink, nap, repeat.

If you do fancy going further afield, rent a car and explore the beautiful countryside & idyllic beaches.
